Flow States are those fleeting and beautiful moments you find yourself moving in presence synched up with the pulse of the universe, tapped into an energy source from beyond the limits of the body.

Flow States as a practice is rooted in the Kripalu Hatha-Tantrika lineage, which understands yoga as a compassionate, inward journey through movement, breath, and awareness. I teach in the tradition of Kripalu Vinyasa, framing Asana as Meditation in Motion, where flow emerges through the unfoldings of the present moment and cultivation of Prana.

Attention in sequencing to the five kosha the physical body (anamaya kosha), energy body (pranamaya kosha), mental-emotional body (manomaya kosha), wisdom body (vijnanamaya kosha), and bliss body (anandamaya kosha) invites deeper presence and connection.

I program Flow States to be reverent and irreverent, accesible and adaptable to the bodies I get to share my practice with. Sometimes we deepen into holds, resourcing from our deep musclular strength and cultivating our ability to approach challenges with curiousity and generosity. Sometimes we stay in motion finding release in movement between poses. It’s very choose your own adventure.

Flow States is challenging enough for folks with an established practice to go deeper and skill up, and flexible enough for people with new or non existent relationships to yoga and group movement to explore new modes of embodiment and edges of sensation.

Ultimately I see Flow States as a way to move together and cultivate our capacities to endure in the present while preparing our body/minds for the invetiable collapse of capitalism and fascism.

Sonic Flow States happens the last sunday of each month, where I sequence our practice to ambient, new age, or otherwise transcendant albums. Here are some previous Sonic Flow States.
